Blinken Praised India : US Secretary of State Antony Blinken praised India on Wednesday, describing it as an Extraordinary Success Story. He highlighted the positive impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership on relations with allied countries. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Blinken emphasized that the conversations between India and the US consistently stress the importance of democracy and human rights, reaching a new level of diplomatic ties.

Blinken said- We recognize an extraordinary success story, particularly noting the significant achievements made under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership that have greatly benefited our allied nations. The relationship between our countries has evolved to a higher level, a result of intentional efforts by both Prime Minister Modi and President Biden. Simultaneously, our discussions consistently involve the topics of democracy and human rights.
He added, “Upon President Biden’s assumption of office, there was a deliberate push to reintegrate fundamental concerns about democracy and human rights into our foreign policy. This is carried out in diverse ways depending on the nature of our relationships with countries and governments. The sustained and genuine conversations we have lead to positive changes.
Blinken also addressed the recent Taiwan presidential elections, causing displeasure in China, and reaffirmed US support for the existing situation on the island. He highlighted the elections as a robust affirmation of democracy, extending congratulations to the people of Taiwan.
Blinken emphasized the US’s fundamental interest in maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, urging the peaceful resolution of any differences between Beijing and Taiwan. He underscored the successful management of the Taiwan issue as a key aspect of US-China relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties, emphasizing the value placed on maintaining the current state of affairs.
